Is it wrong that i want to live in a small town?

well my uncle is a firefighter and its kind of a tradition in my family for the guys, my mom is into city life and my uncle is into the small town type stuff. one day when i was telling my mom once i turn 16 i was going to be a cadet in my fire department and she told me not to get stuck in a small town and i said ok. i started to think about it and i kind of want to live in a small town with a average job and not have to be in a city, why is that considered so wrong?
